Two Guangdongers, Zhong Daohui, a soldier from Guangzhou Military Area and Chen Dan, chairman of Guangdong Hengxing Group, together with eight youths from other provinces, were selected as China's "Outstanding Youth" by the All-China Youth Federation in Beijing on Sunday (Dec 18), according to Xinhua News Agency's report.
Other winners included Zhang Qingjun, associate chief designer of the manned spaceflight system for China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Zhang Yining, a table tennis player who has won all gold medals in major international games, and Wu Weizhou, chief commander in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
A schoolteacher of the Yao ethnic group and a Uygur circus player were also awarded, as were a police officer and board chairmen from two companies.
The ten were selected out of 44 candidates recommended by provincial Youth League committees and youth federations, and the award ceremony will be held in January.
