Some 300 overseas Chinese teenagers from about 12 countries begin their 2005 root-seeking winter camp today (Dec. 16), in South China Normal University in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province.
"I'm so proud to be an oversea Chinese. I admire Chinese culture very much, and eager to learn Chinese folk dances and Chinese Kungfu. I'm very glad to have this Chance to realize my dream." said Huang Huiming, a girl from Thailand.
2005 root-seeking winter camp is expected to help overseas Chinese teenagers learn Chinese, deepen their understanding of China and Chinese culture and promote communication among Chinese teenagers at home and abroad.
The winter camp will last to December 29th, and the teenagers will learn Chinese folk dances and Chinese Kungfu, study Chinese and common knowledge of Chinese culture, and visit cultural and historic sites in the following days.
This winter camp is held by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Guangdong Provincial Government.
