A recruitment fair will be held Dec. 17-18 offering at least 15,000 vacancies for college students who will graduate next year.
The job fair will be held at the China Hi-Tech Fair Exhibition Center. The vacancies will be open to candidates majoring in more than 200 fields. Electronics, information, machinery, English, management and marketing are among the most sought-after majors.
Statistics provided by the Shenzhen Municipal Personnel Bureau showed the city would need more than 30,000 college graduates in 2006.
More than 35,000 graduates landed jobs in Shenzhen this year, the highest-ever number employed by the city's companies and institutions in a year.
They included 6,500 with master's degrees and 200 with doctorates. Most of them graduated from well-known universities.
Meanwhile, Shenzhen's government departments and public institutions will have nearly 1,500 job openings, including 597 vacancies for civil servants and 882 for government employees. Details will be published in Chinese-language newspapers soon.
