The 2nd China Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Fair & Sino-France SME Fair is scheduled to open next Monday (Sep 12) at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center (known as the new complex of Canton Fair). This plenary sees a surge in numbers of both exhibitors and purchasers.

This plenary, jointly held by China and France, is much more than just an exhibition. It features a SME summit forum, on which officials responsible for SME development from both countries and other guests will give speeches. Other bi-lateral activities are cooperation projects promotion, purchasing information conference, corporate financing conference, corporate informationalization forum and SME training.

Lin Ying, Vice Secretary-General of Guangdong government said the Fair this year would have 5361 booths, beyond the expected 5000 booths, and the booths were taken by 3522 enterprises from home and abroad, including 150 enterprises from France. Up to now, over 80,000 purchasers have registered to attend the Fair, 7000 of which are foreign purchasers, coming from more than 70 countries.

Famous corporations such as Carrefour, Wal-Mart, METRO, JUSCO, and Watsons will attend the Fair, according to Lin.

The first China Small and Medium Enterprises Fair was held on Oct. 18th-22nd, 2004 in Guangzhou. It had 1860 booths and attracted 52000 purchasers.
