On April 8th, Heyuan City in Northern Guangdong will host the International Dinosaur Symposium for the first time.

Heyuan city currently holds one of the world's most important dinosaur fossil repositories. The city's museum holds the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest collection of dinosaur egg fossils, with 10,008 in all.

Fossilized dinosaur eggs were first discovered near the city in 1996 by four children playing on a construction site. Since then, local residents have helped increase the collection which includes the complete fossil of a dinosaur and its footprints. In addition archaeologists have found 7 fossilized dinosaur skeletons and 168 fossilized dinosaur footprints.

Heyuan city signed a one-billion yuan contract agreement with the Guangsheng Company of Guangdong to build the world class dinosaur park.
