According to the Guangzhou Traffic Committee, this year more than 7,000 public buses will begin using bilingual audio announcements for bus stop names in both Chinese and English.
Bus stop bulletin boards will also add English text next to the Chinese names. In addition, Guangzhou's traffic information hotline will now provide English services for foreigners.
The hotline provides a taxi translation service which allows a foreign passenger to call the hotline and talk to an operator who will help communicate with the taxi driver. The hotline number is 96900.
