Chinese entrepreneurs were involved in heated discussions on corporate culture during a three-day forum, which ended yesterday (Dec. 5) in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province.
Over 500 enterprise delegates from all over China had the opportunity to exchange views on building corporate culture with world business leaders, corporate consultants and economists.
Stephen R. Covey, author of "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," highlighted a trustworthy and fair relationship between business leaders and their general staff as crucial to this development.
Larry Lang, professor with the business administration faculty under the Chinese University of Hong Kong, emphasized that the key development gap between Western countries and China in terms of corporate culture is the lack of a sound trust responsibility system in China.
He attributes the slowing business performance and labour shortage in the Pearl River Delta regions to the lack of such a system. Law-supported administration is the path to trust responsibility, he said.
"If our specific corporate spirit and culture are accepted by customers, I'm sure our products will find the right market," said Qin Ming, general manager with Dreamer, a wine maker from Chengdu in Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
