5 injured in S China train derailment

A railway in south China's Guangdong Province has resumed operation after a train derailment on Thursday morning caused by a landslide.

At about 5 a.m. on Thursday, the T171 Nanchang-Guangzhou train encountered a rain-triggered landslide near Qingyuan City in Guangdong Province, according to the Guangzhou Railway Group Corporation.

The 12th carriage of the train derailed, injuring five passengers.

The corporation initiated an emergency plan. The railway was suspended immediately after the accident but resumed operation at around 12:02 p.m..

Passengers have been transferred to other trains, and the affected carriages were removed to a railway station to be repaired.
