11,000 GZ residents to visit garbage treatment facilities

From June 11 to July 4, Guangzhou officials will arrange for more than 11,000 local residents to visit Panyu Huoshaogang Household Garbage Landfill, the second branch of Guangzhou No. 1 Resource Thermal Power Plant, and the Likeng Household Garbage Landfill, which has been restored to greenery. The visits are aimed at giving the public a better understanding of the development of garbage incineration facilities.

Themed on "extensive public involvement for the establishment of a model city of the nation for garbage sorting", the visits will be conducted in 14 groups at a cost of RMB80 per person, according to Wei Weihan, director of Guangzhou City Management Committee.

The more than 11,000 participants will include members of the municipal leadership; secretaries-general of the CPC Municipal Committee, the Municipal Government, the People's Congress, and the Political Consultative Conference; delegates to the People's Congress and the Political Consultative Conference; representatives of grassroots party organizations; discipline inspection cadres; officials of the politics and law system; cadres of neighborhood committees; chairmen of trade unions; school principals; journalist; youth volunteers; students of party schools; teachers and students of universities and high schools; housewives; real estate developers; and managers of property management companies.
