Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau on April 17 published an environmental impact assessment report on the proposed Canton Opera Art Museum project on its official website. According to the report, the project will encompass a land plot on the northern bank and another land plot for a car park, and its budget has been increased to RMB 434 million. The entire project is slated for completion in August next year.

The project is located in the arcade building complex protection zone, heritage neighborhood and construction controlled zone along Enning Road in Liwan District. According to the revised zoning plan, the project will also encompass a land plot for a car park and another land plot on the northern bank (for an office building and a product exhibition and sale zone). Under the new zoning plan, the entire project, consisting of the main construction zone and the new subsidiary construction zone on the northern bank, will be divided by Liwan Creek into two parts – the northern bank and the southern bank.

The project is expected to cost about RMB 434 million, with 0.82% or RMB 3.57 million for environmental protection work. The entire project will be financed with proceeds of public financial revenue.
