‘The Body as a Landscape’ exhibition opened in Guangzhou

‘The Body as a Landscape’ exhibition opened at Guangdong Museum of Art yesterday (Jan 14).Organized by the Consulate General of Mexico in Guangzhou, all the sculptures are created by a reputable Mexican artist --Jorge Marin.

Jorge Marin and his brother Javier Marin are both famous figures in Mexican art world. In 2010, Javier Marin’s art works have been exhibited in Shanghai Expo and got renowned in China. This time, 21 pieces of Jorge Marin’s representative work are represented to the public.

With over 25 years’ of artistic work, renowned for his dramatic bronzes, Jorge Marin’s has not only successfully dominated Mexico’s artistic scene but also become a representative figurative international sculpture.

On the opening of the exhibition, Consul General of Mexico in Guangzhou, David Najera made a speech, saying the show would enhance friendship between China and Mexico as well as mutual cooperation in culture.

“The sculptures are fantastic and inspiring! The men in the sculpture are about to fly!” said Miss Shao, a local university student.
