Local temperatures could drop below 10 degrees Celsius tomorrow through Monday after this week’s brief stretch of warm winter days, staff at Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said.

Temperatures could climb to 19 degrees Celsius today, with light mist or rain brought by northern winds.

The observatory recorded the city’s lowest temperature since autumn, 6.7 degrees Celsius, on Dec. 19. That was the second-coldest temperature recorded in Shenzhen on that date since 1988, meteorologists said.

The city also recorded 119.5 millimeters of rain from Dec. 15 to 17, a rare three-day rainfall in December. The observatory had a yellow-level cold weather alert in place for 209 hours — the longest such alert in the past five years — before it was withdrawn Tuesday morning.
