Sintering Project of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Base Commences

On the morning of December 19, Sheng Genghong, general manager of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (Baosteel Zhanjiang) announced the official commencement of the sintering project of Baosteel Zhanjiang iron & steel base. Four pile drivers started simultaneously, raising the curtain of another major project of the base--sintering project. Present at the commencement ceremony were heads of Baosteel Zhanjiang as well as the construction, supervision and design units.

The project uses new processes, technologies, equipment and materials, and is up to advanced international standards with high quality, high operation reliability, low energy consumption, high labor productivity, low environmental pollution and rational investment. The project will be completed and come on stream by August 15, 2016 to supply high-quality sintered ores to two 5050 blast furnaces.

According to sources, the structural form of the main buildings of the sintering project is reinforced concrete and over 75 percent of the buildings exceed 20 meters in height. The construction, supervision and design units involved undertook to fulfill Baosteel Zhanjiang's construction target of "guaranteeing progress and quality" in an all-round manner, work closely with each other and make concerted efforts to build a fine project and ensure that the project comes on stream, reaches its full capacity and creates benefit as scheduled.

Baosteel Zhanjiang required that all construction units should give play to their advantages in management, technology and service to build a fine project for Baosteel Zhanjiang, undertaking to conduct overall planning under the principles of scientific organization and elaborate operation to deliver a "double-merit" project.
