International Cargo Terminal No. 1, built by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co., Ltd. at the cost of RMB 690 million, was officially put into service at 10:30 a.m. on November 28. With a gross floor area of 43,000 square meters, the cargo terminal building, which is part of the first phase of the project, consists of six export cargo compartments. The cargo depot has a gross floor area of 32,000 square meters and can handle 520,000 tons of goods a year, boosting the airport's freight handling capacity.

The depot of International Cargo Terminal No. 1, adjacent to the cargo plane apron, is well equipped. There are 15 small-sized security screening machines, 21 cargo compartment platforms, 225 automatic container vertical shelves, and 915 automatic bulk vertical shelves, ensuring the high efficiency of air freight.

The building itself is well designed, comprising a cargo storage, a dangerous goods storage, and a cold storage with adjustable temperatures. The second phase of the project will include a storage facility for live animals.

Put into service on the same day were customs clearance, inspection and quarantine facilities, a certificate issuing office, an information system, and a surveillance system. Efficient customs clearance and supervision procedures are in place. More than 400 high-definition cameras are operating around the clock, ensuring the security of the cargo depot.
