It has been a full month since the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China officially went into force on July 1. Guangzhou border inspection officers announced on August 12 that over the past month, they handled more than 1.54 million passengers, including over 46,000 transit passengers who were exempted from inspection, and inspected 12,000 inbound and outbound flights and vehicles.

Earlier on July 28, the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport began implementing a 24-hour visa-free transit policy for passengers from a select number of countries, become the second airport in China mainland to do so after the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
