Zhejiang University team wins CIMA 2013 Global Business Challenge China champion

Team “Buzz Woody” from Zhejiang University stands out yesterday (June 6) in the CIMA 2013 Global Business Challenge (GBC) China County final in Guangzhou, and will compete against 23 other national champions at the Global Finals in South Africa in August.

The competition was organized by CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), the world’s leading body of management accountants, and was hosted by the management school of Jinan University.

Five teams competing each other are from, Zhejiang University, the champion team; Jinan University, the runner-up; Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, the second-runner up, Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Miss. Mengya Zhang from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics was awarded the Best Future Business Leader

CIMA Managing Director, Mr. Andrew Harding in his speech said “To organize CIMA GBC, we want to give clear and right guidance to the young generation and provide them an open platform for them to shine.”

The British Consulate-General Guangzhou, Mr. Alastair Morgan attaches great importance to fostering closer ties between the United Kingdom and South China. He said to the students “You should be very proud of yourselves to have come this far, you are winners already.”

The team is excited about the global finals and look forward to the challenge. Team member Mr. Chen Si Yang said: “We hope to do Zhejiang University and China proud at the Global Finals in South Africa. We will be competing against 23 other national champions and we expect a tough fight.”

CIMA will fly Buzz Woody to the global final along with each winning team from Australia, Bangladesh, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, Middle East, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UK, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Once there, they will battle it out to become the 'Global Champion' by presenting a business case to an audience of CIMA delegates and a judging panel of renowned business experts.
