The Guangzhou Major Projects Office published a list of new high-priority investment projects on the website of the city's Development and Reform Commission on April 2. The new list contains 30 major projects involving a total investment of RMB 19.79 billion. Most of the projects are related to transport infrastructure facilities, such as the metro system, inter-city railway transportation, airports, seaports, and expressways, followed by environmental and gardening projects, such as the transformation of the Liede Creek.

The development of the metro system will be the top priority. Five metro projects will be built at the same time, including the first phase of Line 9, the section of Line 8 from the Cultural Park to Fenghuang Residential Community, the first phase of Line 7, the first Phase of Line 6 and its second phase. These projects will involve a total investment of RMB 6.94 billion and a total length of 82.4 kilometers.

In addition, two inter-city rail projects are planned. One of them is the approximately 38.36-kilometer section of the inter-city railway link from North Guangzhou Station to Qingyuan, which has been built since 2012 and will be completed by 2016 at a cost of RMB 7.6 billion. The other one is the 11.4-kilometer Guangzhou section of the Guangzhou-Foshan Inter-city Rail Line Project, which has been built since 2002 and is expected to be completed in 2013 at a cost of RMB 7.843 billion, including RMB 368.2 million by the end of this year.
