Traverlers in Shenzhen will be able to take a six-hour train to Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province, when a rail section linking Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, and Zhengzhou opens by the end of September.

The 482.7-km rail line was put into test operation Sunday for trains going at speeds of 300 kilometers per hour. It takes only 90 minutes to get from Wuhan to Zhengzhou along the line which covers nine stations, the official Web site of Guangzhou Railway Group Corp. said.

The section between Beijing and Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province and the section between Shijiazhuang and Wuhan will be put into use before the end of the year, marking the completion of the Beijing-Shenzhen High-speed Railway.

After the whole line is put into use, it will take about nine hours to get from Shenzhen to Beijing along the 2,120 kilometer rail.

The opening of Zhengzhou-Wuhan high-speed rail means that passengers could easily change to other rail lines through Zhengzhou Station, the central station of China which links the east-west and north-south trunk railways.

At present, there are two trains a day, K1040 and K134, from Shenzhen to Zhengzhou and the train journey between the two cities takes about 24 hours.
