Ten pairs of high-speed trains will run from Shenzhen to Wuhan between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily starting April 1, according to a schedule released online Tuesday by Wuhan Bureau of Railways.

The fastest of the high-speed trains will make the 1,069-kilometer trip in four hours and 13 minutes.

The earliest train, G1012, will leave Shenzhen at 7 a.m. and arrive in Wuhan at 11:40 a.m. The final train will leave Shenzhen at 6:01 p.m. and arrive in Wuhan at 10:48 p.m.

Trains will leave Shenzhen at intervals of 30 to 90 minutes. All the trains from Shenzhen to Wuhan will stop at Guangzhou and Changsha, the capitals of Guangdong and Hunan provinces, respectively.

The Changsha stop will last three to five minutes, while the Guangzhou stop could last up to 11 minutes.

Some trains will have stops of only two minutes at other stations. The G1020 train, for example, will leave Shenzhen at 2:20 p.m. and stop at nine stations.

The Wuhan bureau didn't reveal fares for the high-speed trip, but some insiders estimate a typical fare could be 540 RMB, or 0.44 RMB per kilometer.

The current fare for an economy seat on the 102-kilometer trip between Shenzhen and Guangzhou is 75 RMB (12 USD), or 0.74 RMB per kilometer.

The new high-speed trains'  potential lure of travelers has caused some airlines to reduce flights from Shenzhen to Changsha and Wuhan in their summer-winter schedules.

In the China Eastern Airlines schedule that takes effect March 25, the airline canceled flight MU2364 to Wuhan. China Southern is canceling two flights to Changsha.

Travel experts say the high-speed rail won't present a big challenge to the aviation industry, although the punctuality and comfort of high-speed trains are attracting travelers.

Another 10 pairs of high-speed trains will also start to run daily from Shenzhen to Changsha.
