As of Jan. 1, 2012, valid IDs must be present both when you buy train tickets and at boarding, which has been applicable for high-speed and bullet trains since June 2011. The policy is expected to eradicate scalpers who profit from trading train tickets and also relieve difficulties in buying train tickets especially during the Spring Festival travel rush. Also new for the upcoming Spring Festival holidays, patrons can now buy train tickets via phone and the Internet. This has been in effect since Dec. 28However during high traffic times, the booking website www.12306.cn was noticeably slower than before and always responded "system busy."These inconveniences in the paralyzed system caused some custumers tickets to go unissued leading many to double book their reservations. The ticket inconsistencies will be refunded within 15 days, according to the announcement by the railway
