Honda, Toyota, and Nissan, together with other auto parts manufacturing companies has shaped Guangzhou auto industry cluster, says Lin Yanhe, deputy mayor of Guangzhou.

Pearl River Delta, an economic zone with Guangzhou as the center in Guangdong Province, has the largest car consumption, accounting for one-third of the total car consumption of China. Around 10,000 cars licenses were approved a month in Guangzhou.

By 2005, Guangzhou is predicted to produce 400,000-500,000 cars and the sale value may exceed 100 billion yuan, says Lin.
