The Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on September 21 this year, is a traditional Chinese festival with the joint customs of family reunion and eating mooncakes. The traditional foods for the Mid-Autumn Festival are making headlines again as this year's Festival approaches.

Do you fancy making mooncakes by yourself? Do you want to know how chefs make a table of authentic Cantonese food for diners during the festival? Here is your chance to visit a Cantonese chef training base and try your hand at making traditional baked mooncakes in Guangzhou!

On the afternoon of September 17 (next Friday), GDToday will present our subscribers an amazing mooncake making event and a special visit to the Cantonese chef training base that is home to numerous rising star chefs of Cantonese cuisine.

Schedule

Time: 14:00-17:00, Friday, September 17, 2021

Venue: Guangdong Province Technician College of Light Industry (GPTCLI, 广东省轻工业技师学院)

Add.: No. 2 Linian Road, Shitan Town, Zengcheng District, Guangzhou (广州市增城区石滩镇理念路2号)

Transport: Participants can take a free shuttle bus from downtown Guangzhou to the GPTCLI. Please add us as friend on WeChat (ID: fera110), and the specific shuttle schedule will be notified via WeChat later.

Itinerary:

● 12:00-13:30 Take shuttle bus from downtown Guangzhou to GPTCLI;

● 13:30-14:00 Register at the GPTCLI;

● 14:00-14:20 Welcome Ceremony;

● 14:20-14:50 Visit the Cantonese chef training base;

● 14:50-16:00 Cantonese chefs explain the Mid-Autumn Festival customs and mooncake culture. Participants can make traditional mooncakes in groups under chefs’ guidance;

● 16:00-16:30 Take a break to enjoy high tea and chat while the mooncakes are baking;

● 16:30-17:00 Taste the mooncakes, pack and take away the mooncakes made by yourself. Take a group photo to mark the occasion;

● 17:00-18:30 Travel back to downtown Guangzhou by shuttle bus.

Highlights:

● Trying your hand at making traditional baked mooncakes;

● Enjoying high tea and other traditional foods for the Mid-Autumn Festival, such as grapefruit;

● An exclusive tour around the Cantonese chef training base.

COVID-19 prevention requirements:

Participants are required to present a negative result proof of a nucleic acid test for COVID-19 conducted within 72 hours before the scheduled time of the event, GDToday will cover the cost of the test. Please do remember to get a fapiao (发票) for your test and give it to us during the event. Please wear a mask on your way to the college, and prepare your negative test result, green heath code and digital travel record for checking at the entrance of the college.

Note: The application deadline is September 15.
