Guangdong's travel agencies resume cross-provincial tours

Travel agencies in Guangdong have been given permission to resume their cross-provincial tours, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province said in a circular on Tuesday. At present, the COVID-19 infections in China have been contained effectively, and people are eager to travel at the end of the summer holiday.

However, local travel agencies shall not organize tours to the provinces with COVID-19 medium and high risk areas, receive tour groups from those provinces, or organize tours for tourists from those areas.

If medium and high risk areas emerge during the trips, travel agencies should suspend their trans-provincial tours to those provinces.

In case of a pandemic outbreak or the appearance of suspected cases, adjust or cancel the travel activities in time. Group members of package tours should follow the instructions of relevant departments to report information and accept health monitoring.

This decision came amid a slow down in the increase of new cases in recent days. The country reported no new confirmed local infections on August 24, the first time since late July when a series of local outbreaks driven by the Delta variant broke out and later spread to 18 provincial-level regions, according to the National Health Commission.
