The 31-year-old asymptomatic carrier reported in Nansha on Sunday was confirmed as being infected by a visitor from Myanmar who stayed at the quarantine hotel, according to the a press conference held in the afternoon of December 23rd.

The latest epidemiological investigation showed the virus’ s gene sequence of the infected hotel women worker is highly identical with that of the Myanmar imported case. The Myanmar visitor checked in the hotel on December 8th after testing positive for Covid-19.

Local government and Guangdong provincial center for disease control and prevention took corresponding pandemic prevention and control measures immediately after the case was reported.

As of 9 am, December 23rd, strict testing and screening among 320 related people was implemented, including 170 close contacts, 199 sub-close contacts, 16 other contacts, and 88 key group people. They were all tested negative.

In terms of the management of related places, a total of 67,891 people have been tested and all of them are negative. All traced communities have been sterilized.

On December 24th, Guangdong reported 1 new imported case from Iraq, and 6 new imported asymptomatic cases, including 2 from Iraq and Saudi Arabia to Guangzhou, 2 from Turkey and UAE to Foshan, and 2 from Myanmar to Zhaoqing.
