China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) held a signing and groundbreaking ceremony for 66 new projects on May 28th. These include major industrial platforms such as an innovation town, an area for large-scale scientific facilities and a medical equipment industrial park.

The science and education innovation town is located at the center of the CSGKC and plans to gather 13 research institutes to improve training and R&D for high-tech businesses such as cybersecurity and environmental science. Institutes including Xidian University Guangzhou Research Institute and Guangzhou University Huangpu Research Institute have already signed into the innovation town.

The area for large-scale scientific facilities was launched by the Huangpu Advanced Material Institute of Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences. The area will be equipped with large-scale scientific facilities as well as an R&D center, exchange center and residential apartments.
CSGKC is a national-level Sino-Singapore joint project, carrying out trials of multiple new reform measures including reforms on IPR use and protection.
2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the CSGKC. Thus far, 1691 enterprises have been registered in the CSGKC with the registered capital hitting 140.2 billion yuan. It also introduced 165 major projects including InnoCare and BeiGene with a total investment value of 77 billion yuan.
