On the morning of April 7th, Guangdong provincial government and Exxon Mobil Corporation (a traditional American oil giant) held a video conference to discuss the construction of the Huizhou ethylene project. Governor Ma Xingrui and Darren Woods, chairman and CEO of Exxon Mobil Corp both attended.

Ma expressed his gratitude to Exxon Mobil for its efforts in allocating raw materials to support the production of medical supplies in Guangdong as well as donating medical supplies to the province.

Ma pointed out that during the pandemic, Guangdong and Exxon Mobil worked closely to minimize the epidemic's influence on the preparation work for the Huizhou ethylene project. Guangdong and Huizhou attach great importance to the project and are concerned about the challenges brought by the epidemic.

Although the epidemic has already had a great impact on the global economy, its thought that it won't leave a permanent mark on Guangdong's economy or on China as a whole. Ma hopes that Guangdong and Exxon Mobil can issue reasonable and mutually beneficial plans to make sure the project is carried out smoothly. The government will optimize public services to create a more marketized, legalized and internationalized business environment.

Darren W.Woods expressed his admiration for Guangdong's endeavors in epidemic prevention and control and resuming production. He thanked Guangdong for the attention and support given to the project.

He said the company will not change its investment plans in China and its developmental strategy in Guangdong. Exxon Mobil is willing to keep working with Guangdong and do its utmost to promote smooth development.
