GD releases special guidelines for children, pregnant women and the elderly

According to the press conference, Guangdong has released several guides targeting children, pregnant and lying-in women and the elderly, implementing measures on control and prevention both at home and in the hospitals.

For example, the province has adjusted consultation hours for children and pregnant women. Face-to-face visiting of the newborns and physical examinations for children are suspended, as well as educational activities like the pregnancy school and collective activities relevant to the children.

Moreover, Guangdong is considering designating some medical institutions with strong treatment capacity to be exclusive to pregnant and lying-in women and newborns.

Wang Shouhong, an expert from Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, suggested that vulnerable groups continue to minimize going out and gathering. It is emphasized that when wearing a mask, the small metal sheet should be pressed on against the nose.

Guangdong has issued a guide to children’s preventive vaccinations (http://wsjkw.gd.gov.cn/xxgzbdfk/content/post_2883050.html, in Chinese). Some like rabies vaccinations cannot be delayed, people must be vaccinated immediately if bitten, warned Zheng Yinan, an expert from Guangdong Women and Children's Hospital.
