Organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou and Guangdong Science Center, the Exhibition explores “The Beauty of Knowledge” through the following themes: Health, Environment, Space, Food and Nutrition, and Cultural Heritage. It conveys the non-traditional, creative and dynamic characteristics that make up the Italian research system and also combines knowledge with the artistic tradition of Italy as well as the renowned Italian lifestyle.

The Exhibition provides visitors with immersive experiences. In space observation, for example, visitors can understand the road that leads from Galileo’s telescope to the Vega satellite launcher. The exhibition also allows visitors to travel through time and walk through the Forum of Augustus, virtually reconstructed in its original form, simply wearing a 3D virtual reality headset. These are only some of the stages of a surprising journey through the variety and richness of Italian research that will be demonstrated in this exhibition.

Ms. Alice Rubini, Deputy Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou said that Italy is eager to share with Chinese people the joy in appreciating the beauty of knowledge, and she hopes that Chinese audiences can discover the Italian contribution to new possibilities of social well-being through this exhibition.

Lu Jingui, General Director of Guangdong Science Center, said that that the Guangdong Science Center conducted frequent and various exchanges of science, technology and culture with Italy, including the “Leonardo de Vinci’s Scientific Code” in 2012 and the “Principles Behind Archimedes’ Science” in 2017. Lu hopes to continue in-depth cooperation with Italian pop-science education institutions in the future and benefit more people through exhibitions and activities.

The exhibition is an installation promoted and financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and led by the National Research Council along with four main Italian science museums, based in Naples, Trento, Florence and Milan.
