The first ever Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival kicked off at Guangzhou Opera House on the evening of June 24th.
The festival includes more than 100 activities such as an opening ceremony, a tour of art exhibitions and a theatre festival.
At the opening ceremony, Guangdong Governor Ma Xingrui said that Guangdong is working together with Hong Kong and Macao to develop a dynamic and competitive city cluster. The festival is held to boost the GBA’s cultural development.

Many local performances shown at the opening ceremony reveals the common cultural roots of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The ceremony also included a glittering themed cruise on the Pearl River, with 11 boats representing the 9 cities and 2 Special Administrative Regions in the GBA.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival is co-hosted by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hong Kong SAR Government, and Macao SAR Government.
