Guangzhou will hold the 2019 China Sports Culture Expo and China Sports Tourism Expo in November.

“2019 is the year of sport in Guangzhou,” said Gao Yuyue, Vice Secretary-General of Guangzhou’s Government. “Guangzhou has not only held the Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament last week, but is also preparing to hold the FIBA Basketball World Cup, BWF World Tour Finals and other wonderful sports events over the following days.”

Gao Yuyue hopes that the Expos could become a platform to promote the development of Chinese sports and tourism industries to a new level.

“Guangzhou is vigorously pushing forward the establishment of the Great Bay Area,” said Tian Ye, Director of the Sports Culture Development Centre of General Administration of Sport of China. “We aim to promote the trilateral communication between the sports and tourism industries of Guangdong, Hongkong and Macao through the Expos.”

Tian stated that the Expos would also see an exhibition of the achievements in sports field that China has been behind over the last 70 years featuring photos and meaningful items, such as gold medals and tracksuits.

According to Zhang Li, Vice President of IDG China, the two Expos will cover an area of 46,000 square meters. More than 400 enterprises from home and abroad will be invited to participate in the exhibition and the total number of participants is estimated to exceed 160,000.
