According to the Guangdong Meteorological Observatory, the province will see heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds from May 5th to 7th. Torrential rain will batter the province for a good while.
On May 5th, rain will mainly affect the Pearl River Delta, northern Guangdong, Yang Jiang, Maoming and Shanwei.
On May 6th, heavy rain will sweep across the Pearl River Delta, eastern Guangdong, Yangjiang, Maoming, with other areas seeing less rainfall.
On May 7th, coastal cities and counties of the province will see heavy rain and storms, with other areas susceptible to heavy showers.
Meteorological experts have reported that precipitation is up 60% on last year, with a large number of rain storms buffeting the province throughout April.
Furthermore, it is expected that the South China Sea summer monsoon season will hit in the second quarter of May (May 6th-10th), earlier than usual, meaning more strong and lasting rainfall to come in the south of China.
