From February 25th, pedestrians who run a red light will be captured on a big screen in Panyu District, said Southern Metropolis Daily.

According to Southern Metropolis Daily, a set of monitoring systems, including a big screen, has been set up at the pedestrian crossing near Exit C of Panyu Square Station on Guangzhou Metro's Line 3.

Yang, a traffic policeman, explained that the monitoring system is directly linked to the traffic lights. When the crossing light turns red, the camera switches on, monitoring for pedestrians who are breaking traffic rules. The violators’ face will be displayed on the screen synchronously.

“It is so embarrassing,” said a lady who was captured. “I won’t do that again and I will certainly obey traffic rules in the future.”

Officer Yang indicated that the violators will be required not only to watch an educational film after being captured, but also to repost the photo on their WeChat Moments with the sentence “I was captured on screen, because I ran the red light. ”
