Shenzhen government officials inspect the newly built Shenzhen-Hong Kong Western Corridor on Thursday. The 5.5-kilometer-long corridor, which is expected to be put into service July 1 as a gift for the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return, passed an inspection by the local government on that day, three years after the project began construction. The corridor, the first cross-border infrastructure project between the two cities to have one-stop customs and immigration clearance, is a two-way three-lane carriageway from Dongjiaotou, Shekou, Shenzhen to Ngau Hom Shek in northwestern Hong Kong, spanning Shenzhen Bay.
