With constant perfection within the system, the complaints related to intellectual property rights for the Canton Fair also experienced a decrease.

On May 5th, the Guangzhou Copyright Bureau and the China Foreign Trade Centre co-organized the Tablet Awarding Ceremony for the "National Exhibition Fair Copyright Model Unit" for the Canton Fair at the Pazhou Complex. The Canton Fair, thus, became China's first exhibition fair copyright model unit.

Wang Ziqiang, Director of the Copyright Department Administration, the National Copyright Administration, said that the Administration would spread the experiences of the Canton Fair in terms of protecting intellectual property rights and push the development of the exhibition industry.

The Canton Fair has been always as paying a high level of attention to the protection of intellectual property rights. It has strengthened the intensity of penalties since the 101st session which stipulated that exhibitors suspected of infringement over a period of three years continually will be disqualified as exhibitors for the Fair. Exhibitors who had proven episodes of counterfeiting and faking actions in terms of intellectual property rights, or if one party was decided or ruled as committing infringements through administrative or judicial channels, and still placed the infringed products on exhibit at the Fair, the party in question would be disqualified as an exhibitor at the Fair for six years and be announced as a guilty part by the Fair officials.

Over the years, the administrative department of the Guangzhou Copyright Bureau had completed the copyright protection and copyright enforcement patrols for the "Guangzhou International Furniture Exhibition", the "Guangzhou International Design Exhibition", the "Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition", the "Guangzhou International Refrigeration Equipment Exhibition", the "Guangzhou International Comics Fair", and the "Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau Ani-comic Exhibition" as well as at other significant exhibitions, besides the Canton Fair. The Bureau makes significant and positive contributions to the development of Guangzhou's economy.
