Heavy rains are expected in northeastern and southern China in the next three days, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) forecast on Sunday.

Heavy or torrential rains will fall in central and eastern part of northeast China, most part of south China, some areas in Yunnan and southern part of Guizhou.

Liaoning, Jilin and Guangdong provinces can expect strong rainstorms, thunderstorms or hails.

On Saturday, heavy downpour hit a peninsula on the southern tip of south China's Guangdong Province. More than 23,000 people were forced to evacuate and thousands of locals were stranded with no necessities like food and fresh water in two of its most flood-battered Tandou Town and Beihe Town.

A helicopter dispatched by the Ministry of Communications carried nearly 900 kg of foods to aid the region. These residents were evacuated when the floods subsided at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Also according to CMA forecasts, draughts will persist in Jiangxi, Hunan and northern Guangxi from Aug. 13 to 15.

China has suffered from abnormal and extreme weather conditions leading to fatal floods, landslides and lingering drought in a number of provinces this year, which left 1,279 people dead and 239 others missing in the first seven months, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
