Chinese State Councilor Hua Jianmin on Sunday required state departments and local authorities to enhance administrative review, saying that it is a way to promote social harmony.

"Administrative review is an important legal system and channel to settle administrative disputes and solve social conflicts," Hua told officials at a two-day meeting here.

He said to enhance the work of administrative review helps solve social conflicts and promote social harmony and stability. "It is also an important way to protect people's legal rights and interests and improve the governing capacity of the governments."

"Governments of all localities and the departments should have a full understanding of the importance and necessity of the administrative review under the new situation," Hua said.

The State Councilor also required various governments and departments to enhance legal training to civil servants and improve public awareness of the administrative review system.
