A research on modern Chinese's mind reveals that most of them enjoy a very strong sense of pride.

This research was sponsored by the Ministry of Education, and conducted by several universities and institutions in Shanghai. Finally, answers from 4,568 responders in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities have been confirmed to be valid.

About 52.3% of the responders feel "very" proud, and 30.5% feel "somewhat" proud.

Interestingly, responders with less income do have a stronger sense of pride than those with more income.

The research also finds that scientist remains the most respected post in the country.
