Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Commissioner Raymond Wong said Thursday the anti-graft body will launch an electronic platform, ICAC Post, to further enhance mutual understanding and communication with corporate leaders and business executives around the world.

The newsletter would serve as a bridge of communication to the overseas law enforcement fraternity and international business community, he added.

Speaking at the closing session of the third ICAC Symposium, Wong said a stronger public-private partnership had to be fostered to avert the adverse impact corruption was having on world economies.

"A stronger public-private partnership is the key to curb corporate corruption," he said. "We law enforcers alone cannot do it all. We need the concerted effort of law enforcement agencies, regulators, professionals and corporate leaders to tackle the problem of corporate corruption head-on."

With the government's unreserved support, the ICAC will continue its relentless efforts to fight against corruption through a three-pronged strategy of law enforcement, prevention and community education and to promote good corporate governance.

Wong urged the continuance of cross-jurisdictional and cross-discipline exchanges to generate even greater synergy in this important global issue of concern.

He said the ICAC would continue to pursue the anti-corruption cause in the international arena.

"As the Central People's Government has extended the United Nations Convention Against Corruption to Hong Kong, the ICAC will spare no effort to facilitate international cooperation under the convention and help other parties develop and implement measures for the prevention of corruption," Wong said.
