Interview: "9+2" Delegations confident on PPRD fair

Before the first Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair kicking off on July 14th, directors of delegations from the "9+2" provinces/regions tell reporters their confidence on the fair and picture the future cooperation of PPRD region at interviews with Southcn.com (Chinese version of Newsgd.com) and other media on July 13th.

Ye Shuangyu, Director of Fujian Delegation, Vice Governor of Fujian Province:
Ye says, Fujian signs a batch of cooperation projects, with investment totaling about 18 bln yuan, with other '9+2' members after the Pan-PRD regional cooperation forum held in June. And Fujian delegation brings 17 new projects, involving 4.2 bln yuan, for contract-signing in the opening ceremony of the Fair. Besides, Fujian will attend seven sector-cooperation promotion conferences to promote its 163 projects.

Looking into the future, Ye says, Fujian includes the regional cooperation into its long-term development scheme, and attaches great importance to ten key fields with cooperation potentials: infrastructural construction, industry and investment, business and trade, travel, agriculture, labor, science-education and culture, informationalization process, environmental protection and sanitation.

Wu Xinxiong, director of Jiangxi delegation, deputy Party Secretary of Jiangxi Province, Executive Vice Governor:
Wu says, Jiangxi sends a large delegation, with nearly 1000 members, to the fair this time, bringing 600 projects, which is with an estimated value exceeding 10 bln yuan. Infrastructure construction, agriculture, travel, reallocation of State-owned capital and science, education, culture and sanitation are five key sectors Jiangxi try to promote in the fair.

Wu also says, Jiangxi, close to Hong Kong and Guangdong, will welcome the industries transferred from these relatively well-developed area, which are upgrading their industrial structure, and accelerate its own industrialization and hence increase the whole region's international competitiveness.

Yu Youjun, Director of Hunan Delegation, Vice Governor of Hunan Province:
Yu says, Hunan Delegation, with 1025 members, brings 352 projects to this fair. The projects, involving some 83.2 billion-yuan, cover fields such as manufacturing, infrastructural construction, tourism services and property right transfer of state-owned enterprises.

He says, Hunan and Guangdong signed on projects worth 11 billion-yuan at the 2003 Hunan (Shenzhen) Investment Conference, and enterprises in Guangdong are welcomed to invest in Hunan.

With a railway line to be opened, it will take less than three hours to travel from Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong to Changsha, capital of Hunan, which is surely to boost the cooperation between the two provinces.

You Ningfeng, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province:
You says, as the hosting province of this PPRD trade fair, Guangdong organizes a delegation with 40 sub-groups, over 5000 members participating in the fair. More than 300 projects will be signed at the opening ceremony of the fair, involving over 200 billion yuan. Among them, over 100 billion-yuan are from governmental projects, while another 100 billion-yuan from business projects.  The business projects include infrastructural construction worth 55 billion-yuan and trade and biz projects worth over 20 billion-yuan.

Zhang Zhendong, Director of Guangxi Delegation, Director General of Guangxi Provincial Investment Promoting Bureau:
Zhang says, PPRD regional cooperation creates precious opportunity for Guangxi Province to speed up its economy. This time the delegation participates the "9+2" fair with 40 projects, involving 5.5 billion-yuan.

Li Lihui, Delegation of Hunan Delegation, Vice Governor of Hainan Province:
Li says, Hainan brings 151 business projects, 100 billion yuan in value to the fair. Projects are from nine fields, including 57 from industry valuing 42 billion-yuan, 19 from agriculture involving 4.7 billion-yuan, 26 tourist project valuing 20 billion-yuan, 8 modern logistics project with 35 billion-yuan involved. Some 53 projects are to be signed at the fair, and 22 out of which, worth 14 billion yuan, will be signed with Guangdong.

He says, eight exhibition sections will be set up at the fair to display environmental resources, industrial characteristics and policy advantages of Hainan, the sections are general introduction, infrastructural construction, industry, agriculture, tourism, oceanic fishery, real estate, developmental zone and industrial park.

Yang Zhiwen, Director of Sichuan Delegation, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province:
Yang says the Sichuan Delegation to the fair has 700 members. Guided by concepts as "local characteristics, markets, complementary, independence", Sichuan selects some 542 business projects to the fair. The projects, involving 99.7 billion yuan, cover several fields including 137 from agriculture.

Zhang Qunshan, Director of Guizhou Delegation, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province:
Zhang says, Guizhou delegation organizes over 300 enterprises to the fair, with an exhibition area of 1200sq.m. The province is to promote 449 projects at the fair, with a value of 42.5 billion-yuan. Among them, 253 projects are estimated to be signed during the fair, with an investment of 17.1 billion-yuan.

The projects cover fields like infrastructure construction, energy and resources, transportation and communications, industry and investment, trade and commerce, agriculture, foods, tourism, labor, science, education and culture, hi-tech products and scientific achievement. Among the projects, 93 are from hi-tech sector, focusing on electronic information, mechtronics, new material, biological pharmacy and agriculture.

Li Xinhua, Director of Yunnan Delegation, Vice Governor of Yunnan Province:
He says Yunnan brings 31 business projects to the fair. The projects are worth over 3 billion-yuan covering five fields such as energy resources, infrastructural construction, industry, tourism and exploitation of biological resources.

Frederick Lam, Vice Director of Hong Kong Delegation, President of Hong Kong Trade Development Council:

Lam says, the PPRD region is the new "selling point" of Hong Kong for attracting overseas investments, and this "9+2" Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair functions as a bridge, promoting communication between the provinces and regions.

The construction of PPRD region ultimately aims at establishing an integrated market in which capitals, products, services and talents can flow freely, he adds.

He also says, Hong Kong will continue to be a "window" of PPRD, share with other '9+2' members its international biz network and sales channel and promote exportation of the whole region.

Finally, Lam says that Hong Kong will hold a seminar named "Promoting Business Opportunities in PPRD" on 19th this month (July), at which Hong Kong businesspersons will study together on strengthening cooperation with enterprises in PPRD regions with the advantages of Hong Kong.

Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Director of Macao Delegation, Secretary for Economy and Finance:
Tam says, the Macao Delegation, over 230 members from seven governmental departments and industrial & commercial fields, brings to the fair projects covering fields like investment, commerce, trade, tourism, science, education, culture and health, involving more than one billion-yuan in value.
