Macao CE offers condolences to Manila hostage victims

The Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Tuesday (Aug 24) sent a letter of condolence to his counterpart in Hong Kong, expressing his sympathy to the victims and their families of the Manila hostage crisis.

Chui said in the letter that people in Macao were greatly concerned about the safety of the Hong Kong tourists who were held hostage on a bus in Manila yesterday, and on behalf of the Macao people and the SAR government, he would like to offer his deep condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families.

He also said that the Macao SAR government is willing to offer all kinds of assistance to the victims of the tragedy.

A former Philippine police officer who claimed to be wronged by the authorities held a tourist bus with more than 20 Hong Kong tourists on board in Manila on Monday. Eight hostages were killed as local police force stormed the bus later that day trying to rescue the tourists.
