To attract more Chinese visitors, Mexican Consulate General has simplified visa application procedures – it takes only three days for a Chinese citizen to get their visa from Mexican Consulate General. According to Jorge Eugenio Guajardo Gonzalez, Mexican ambassador in China, starting from May 1st, Chinese visitors with American visa can also visit Mexico.

Gonzalez visited Guangzhou today and met with Guangdong Party Secretary Wang Yang, both agreed that Mexico and Guangdong should enhance trade and economic cooperation. Wang said Guangdong government will organize a mission to visit Mexico in 2011.

Later in meeting with Guangdong media, Gonzales said Mexico is the sixth most visited country, but with only 18000 from China at present. Mexico is to promote its tourism in China with a short term target to make the number of Chinese visitors rocket to 100,000. Visa procedure simplification is one of their measures, followed by cultural promotions, such as concerts.
