'China-Singapore Knowledge City' agreement to be clinched on June 30

A government delegation headed by Zhang Guangning, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, visited Singapore from June 5 to 7. They explored the city-state's urban management, city landscaping, community management and services, garbage incineration, and science park development.

Goh Chok Ton, Singapore's Senior Minister; Lui Tuck Yew, Minister of information, communications & the arts; S Dhanabalan, Chairman of Temasek Holdings; and Lim Chee Onn, Chairman of SingBridge International Singapore Pte Ltd, met with Mr Zhang Guangning and his entourage on separate occasions.

Both sides exchanged candid views on the acceleration of the "Knowledge City" project and expansion of cooperation between Guangzhou and Singapore in commerce and trade and public administration. Both sides agreed to press ahead with the "Knowledge City" project in the principle of close cooperation, equality and mutual benefit, and to take advantage of the launch of the project to expand cooperation in commerce and trade, urban management, public administration, education and training for mutual prosperity.

Both sides also agreed that the partnership agreement on the "China-Singapore Knowledge City" project will be signed and a groundbreaking ceremony for the initial zone will be held in Guangzhou on June 30. Agreements on ten other major projects will also be signed on the same day.
