Guangzhou will facilitate the opening of a significant number of commercial projects before the Asian Games, build various high-end commercial and trade establishments, and optimize and upgrade the city's top four commercial zones, announced officials attending the 2010 Guangzhou Economic work Conference on Industry and Commerce.
According to Zhao Xiaosui, Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Economic and Trade Committee, this year Guangzhou will set out to optimize and upgrade the city's commercial and trade service sector and facilitate the opening of 10 massive high-end shopping centers before the Asian Games.
These shopping centers include Wanda Plaza, Taikoo Hui, West Friendship Tower (Guojin Store), Taxiway No. 5, the Four-season Mall of GT Land Holding Plaza, West City Mall, Walk Link Plaza, and Sun City Plaza. Guangzhou also has plans to build a 600,000-square-meter cluster of international brands and engage world-class operators to manage the leisure commercial belt along Yanjiang Road, Binjiang Road, Changdi Road, and Linjiang Avenue, all of which are located along the Pearl River. A number of integrated commercial complexes connecting to rail transport are planned as well.
Guangzhou will seek to optimize and upgrade its four commercial zones on Tianhe Road, East Huanshi Road, Beijing Road, and Zhongshan San Road. A modern commercial sector with multiple centers and forms of business will rise to satisfy consumer needs in Guangzhou as a central city of the nation.
