Shenzhen will invest 262 million RMB (38.51 million USD) building an international technology business building in Shenzhen's Hi-Tech Park, to house 100 organizations from nearly 80 countries.
These would be nonprofit organizations such as foreign chambers of commerce and foreign investment promotion agencies, according to Zhu Zhiwei, a vice director of the hi-tech park, speaking yesterday (Aug 31).
The city government established the Shenzhen International Technology Business Platform in the hi-tech park in 2004, attracting 43 international organizations from 30 countries.
Among the members are the Official Investment Promotion Agency of Sweden, the Colombia Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brazil China.
Over the years, the organizations' member companies have exported products worth 1.33 billion USD and imported products worth 210 million USD, introduced 314 overseas projects to Shenzhen and other mainland cities, and assisted 128 domestic companies to establish branches abroad, Zhu said.
However, 10 organizations from Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Germany had been waiting to enter the platform since last year owing to a lack of space, Zhu said. The building was expected to relieve the bottleneck.
