The favorable investment environment of Zhuhai and Macao was promoted to international guests at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2021, which was held April 18-21 in Hainan Province.

Zhuhai Party Secretary Guo Yonghang told the audience that as one of China's earliest special economic zones Zhuhai has a momentum of unprecedented growth stemming from advantageous location, policies, and business environment.

Guo added that Zhuhai provides a broad stage for international investors and entrepreneurs and now needs more than ever the support and participation of global capital as it expands its economic scale backed by high-quality development.

Later, Guo attended a sub-forum on how city clusters such as the Greater Bay Area drive up development. He shared insights on which city clusters the Bay Area can draw experience from, how to bolster the Bay Area as a global sci-tech innovation highland and place of origin for emerging industries, and how to enhance synergetic development between the Pearl River Delta city cluster and Bay Area.

Lei Wai Nong, secretary for Economy & Finance of the Macao Special Administrative Region, announced that Macao will join Zhuhai in accelerating construction of Hengqin as a Deepened Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Zone.

Officials of the Zhuhai Bureau of Commerce, Hengqin New Area Administrative Committee, and Macao Trade & Investment Promotion Institute presented an overview of the Zhuhai and Macao investment environment. Present were 200 BFA partners and members, foreign ambassadors to China, and representatives of international organizations and enterprises.

Li Baodong, secretary-general of the BFA, noted that the 2nd BFA International Science, Technology, and Innovation Forum & Expo will take place in Zhuhai in November under the theme Innovation Empowers Sustainable Development. Discussion will address innovation as a driving force, and life and cooperation as spotlights on development vitality and the innovation potential of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The forum should help Zhuhai become a significant node city in the new development pattern and an innovation pioneer to propel high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area. It will also contribute to Zhuhai-Macao cooperation centered upon Hengqin, said Li.

The investment promotional conference was organized by the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government and Secretariat for Economy of Finance of the Macao SAR.
