Shenzhen Damoda Intelligent Control Technology simultaneously sent 3,051 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into the sky Sept 20 from the sports ground of the Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai in Tangjiawan.

This set a new Guinness World Record as the UAVs continuously changed aeronautics formations. Two of the patterns were of Tiangong-1 (Heavenly Palace-1), China's first space lab module, and the Beidou Navigation Satellite System. This broke the previous record set by a Russian team earlier this year with 2,200 UAVs.

The visual presentation demonstrated the scientific and technological strength of China's booming UAV and aerospace sector. It was a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone and 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

It was staged in Zhuhai where the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) is held biennially and where the world's largest amphibious aircraft – the AG600 – was produced, according to an executive of Shenzhen Damoda.

Damoda is a leading domestic producer of drone formation shows, which, for instance, were performed at the China Central Television's Spring Festival Gala in 2019 and 2020.
