Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) signed an agreement with the Shenzhen branch of China Unicom and Huawei on Sunday to promote the construction of a 5G network and smart campus, according to the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Through the cooperation, new college students will be able to enjoy “5G speed” while surfing the Internet on campus in September, said the report.

Under the strategic agreement, China Unicom Shenzhen will support SZTU in building a service network covering the entire campus to enable open and safe connectivity. In terms of the construction of the 5G smart campus, China Unicom Shenzhen will provide Cloud computing, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data resources.

The university will also be working with China Unicom Shenzhen to develop the application of smart education in multiple fields, including teaching, learning, management, examination and its review system in order to achieve the integration of 5G technology with teaching and scientific research.

Huawei and the university will jointly promote the new type of AI campus, along with an education Cloud and other projects, to speed up the school’s information development.

The two sides will make full use of the Cloud software development platform, AI development training platform and Cloud services developed by Huawei to cultivate talents.

They will also cooperate to help students acquire two certificates, namely Huawei Certified Internetwork Expert (HCIE) and Huawei Certified Network Professional (HCNP). (Wang Jingli)
