To mark the 100th anniversary of Hilton Group, Hilton Shenzhen Futian Hotel donated a library, named Stars Library, to a primary school in a less-developed area of Yunfu City, Guangdong Province.

Equipped with bookshelves, desks and chairs, book stickers and more than 2,000 books, the library at Xuancun Primary School, Taiping Township, Xin-xing County in Yunfu is expected to raise interest in reading among the children, cultivate good reading habits and facilitate the organization of reading activities by local teachers. The new library, under construction since last September, adopts a Readora system and will be managed by the students with the supervision of a librarian.

Also in a move to continue the “Soap Cycling” initiative supported by Hilton Group, Hilton Shenzhen Futian recycled more than 300 kilograms of soap, which was also donated to the school, a three years’ supply for the students and faculty.

“During the course of our 100 years of development, Hilton has been the leading force of innovation and reformation in the hospitality industry, becoming one of the fastest-growing hotel groups in the world, and also bringing long-term and positive effects to not only our guests, but also our communities,” said Fredrik Johansson, general manager of Hilton Shenzhen Futian on Wednesday.

“With the Stars Library and the soap giveaway, we hope to bring a better reading environment, cleanliness and health to our children,” he said. (Tang Li)
