In addition to these works, Jin Cheng’s personal cartoon collection is another highlight of the exhibition with rare manuscripts of Castle In The Sky by Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, The Adventures of Tintin by Belgian artist Hergé, and Old Master Q by China’s Hong Kong cartoon artist Alfonso Wong.
An opening ceremony and sharing session was held on the afternoon of May 11th at the book center. At the event, Jin Cheng shared his views on “fair lady” and how he painted such lifelike female portraits.

Among all his female portraits, Lin Huiyin is Jin Cheng’s favorite. Why? Jin said that while Lin wasn’t perhaps conventionally beautiful nor stylishly dressed, she was educated, principled, and independent, making her a ‘fair lady’ in his eyes.
Lin Huiyin (1904-1955), an outstanding female poet and architectural historian from the first half of the 20th century in China, was an erudite generalist who wrote about literature, arts, architecture and philosophy.
After the session, Jin Cheng painted female attendees wearing cheongsam, traditional Chinese women’s dress, nowadays better known by its Mandarin name Qipao.

Co-hosted by Guangzhou Book Center and Guangzhou Animation & Cartoon Artists Association, the exhibition is the first activity of the coming ‘Guangzhou Cartoon Season’.
Over the next few months, a great many of cartoon events will be held in Guangzhou, including the Thirteenth National Exhibition of Fine Arts · Works Collection of Animation, Cartoon and Paintings.
