According to Guangdong Traffic Police Bureau, the Spring Festival traffic peak will last from January 21st and March 1st. As more drivers are taking a holiday break, passengers may have to wait longer for both taxies and DiDi cars.
A report recently released by DiDi shows the request response rate of DiDi cars is expected to drop by 20% across Chinese mainland, with the longest queues occurring between Feb. 4 and Feb. 6.
To reward the drivers who stay on the road, DiDi will charge passengers an extra ¥1-¥9 for each rides from Jan. 28 and Feb. 10. The fee will apply to Express (including ExpressPool), Select, and Premier, with the full amount going directly to the driver’s account.
In addition, drivers will have a chance to win bonus from the platform ranging between ¥2.8 and ¥100 per trip for serving traffic hot zones between Jan. 28 and Feb. 19. There will also be various nationwide incentives.
The extra fee on passengers, the bonus and their effective time periods vary by city.
